Five Thoughts The Day After The Hokies’ Loss At Florida State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The beauty, and in a larger sense, point of writing five thoughts the day after Hokies games all these years is to give things a chance to breathe. Let it simmer, sleep on it and see if things look the same in the light of day.
Well, after driving through the night across the northern side of Florida to arrive at the Jacksonville airport for a morning flight, I can safely tell you that there was no rest to speak of before I sat down to hack away at the keyboard this fine morning.
At the risk of writing this on no sleep — NO SLEEP — here are five thoughts the day after the Hokies’ 34-14 loss at Florida State (and, considering most of my column was dedicated to James Franklin watch, we’ll steer clear of that topic in this article):
1. It’s a shame Tech’s passing attack is so insufficient, because the run game’s legit.
At one point Saturday night, the Hokies had an odd stat line: 17 rushes for 120 yards, 2-for-4 passing for minus-1 yard. That’s right, somehow Tech had two completions that went backward for a yard.
