What AJ Brown told Eagles owner during unusual on-field meeting

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie didn’t address receiver A.J. Brown’s social media complaints behind closed doors.

Lurie and the disgruntled veteran had a 10-minute meeting on the field during Thursday’s practice to work through Brown’s public frustration over his role in Philadelphia’s offense, a senior team official told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio.

Brown promised Lurie that he would stop complaining on social media — but also made it clear that he wants to be a part of the offense and is frustrated.

Lurie told Brown that he didn’t need to apologize and they hugged before the three-time Pro Bowl wideout returned to practice.

“It was a very amicable meeting,” Paolantonio said during ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown” ahead of the Eagles-Lions game on Sunday. “A.J. Brown was contrite.”

The meeting was orchestrated by Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro, who motioned for Brown to come over to Lurie.

Team sources told ESPN it was the first time any of them could remember DiSandro — who has worked for Lurie for 28 years — prompting a meeting on the field between Lurie and a player.

DiSandro often attends private dinner meetings between Lurie and players, according to Paolantonio.

The meeting happened a day after Brown publicly ranted about the Eagles offense.

“It’s not just solely about my situation. I want to win too,” Brown told reporters on Wednesday. “I think if we’re really focused on winning and doing our job, we can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble. At what point are we going to pick up our slack as an offense?

“That’s what I’m getting at. … You can’t keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and expect to win late in the year and think you’re going to go to that at the end of the year. It’s not going to f–king happen.”

On Tuesday night, a now-viral video of Brown saying “it’s a s–tshow ” in Philadelphia made the rounds on social media.

Twitch streamer Janky Rondo, who was playing a game of Madden NFL 26 with Brown, asked the Super Bowl champ if “everything been good” in his life.

“I mean, no,” Brown responded. “Where have you been? Family is good. Everything else, no. It’s a s—show.”

Later in the game, Brown laughed and said, “If you got me on fantasy, man, get rid of me.”

Brown told reporters that he was “not apologizing” for his comments on the video.

“It’s the same things I’ve been saying all season,” Brown said. “So me making light of my situation on Twitch with my friend, that’s something I’m not apologizing for. Because, like I said, if you have eyes, you can see that.”

“… I’m literally trying to laugh through this s—. This s— is tough. But I’m trying to make fun of the situation and to try to get through it. It is what is is, man.”

Brown has 31 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns in eight games this season.

The Eagles (7-2) are looking for their fourth consecutive win Sunday night against the Detroit Lions (6-3).
