Thieves fleece Shedeur Sanders’ home of $200,000 in property, Medina deputies say

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Masked thieves broke into Shedeur Sanders’ Granger Township home through an unlocked door on Sunday, making off with more than $200,000 in items, authorities said.
In a statement, Medina County sheriff’s deputies said that thieves entered the home at 6:46 p.m. and left at 6:58 p.m., just as the Browns game against the Baltimore Ravens ended. Sanders played the second half, going 4 for 16 for 47 yards as the Browns lost 23-16.
In an incident report, a deputy said he arrived at the Granger Township home just after midnight Monday. The officer met with Sanders’ manager, who was standing on the front porch.
The manager, who is not identified, said the quarterback “is a professional athlete and requested this incident be kept from the media, if possible,” according to the deputy’s report.
The officer then spoke with Sanders, who showed surveillance video of three masked intruders approaching the house from a nearby treeline. Once at the glass door, they paused for a moment “while the first individual struggled to open the unlocked door,” according to the report.
Once inside, the burglars used their cellphones to light their way through the home, the report shows.
Though deputies didn’t say what exactly was taken, they noted the thieves went into a bedroom and stole things from Sanders’ nightstand and closet, and they even overturned his pillows, the report shows.
The thieves made off with “several high-value items,” police said. It’s unclear why, but the thieves walked up a set of steps and turned around before the second-story landing, police said.
In 12 minutes, the thieves were gone, leaving the same way they had come, according to the report.
At this time, police do not suspect a gang or juveniles were involved in the burglary, the report said.
The break-in at Sanders’ home adds to a growing list of NFL players whose houses have been targeted during games. It includes Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow; Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce; and Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan.
Sanders entered the Ravens game after starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel suffered a concussion. With Gabriel still in the concussion protocol, Sanders could start Sunday’s game in Las Vegas against the Raiders.
