Shaboozey Shares Candid Opinion on Jelly Roll’s New Clean-Shaven Look — and Begs Him to Bring the Beard Back

Shaboozey is not holding back his thoughts about Jelly Roll’s new look.

At the 2025 CMA Awards in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the 30-year-old country star shared his candid thoughts on his friend’s recent decision to go clean-shaven.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight if he’s seen Jelly Roll’s fresh-faced look, Shaboozey admitted, “I haven’t. They told me about it.” The singer added, “I can’t even imagine him with the shaved face. I’m like, ‘It’s giving Snapchat filter, man.’ “

He ended with a playful message to Jelly Roll, 40, who did not attend the event. “We miss the beard, man,” he joked. “Come back soon. Grow that out.'”

Shaboozey hit the CMA Awards red carpet in a pair of blue jeans teamed with a black jacket with white embroidery. The singer added a white tank underneath and rounded out the look with a Western-style belt, a cream-colored cowboy hat and Savannah Friedkin’s Emergence Chandelier Earring.

The star was nominated for New Artist of the Year, but the award ultimately went to Zach Top.

During the ceremony, Shaboozey took the stage alongside Stephen Wilson Jr. to perform their song “Took a Walk.”

In a Nov. 13 Instagram post, Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie Xo revealed that her husband shaved his beard for the first time in 10 years.

“You guys, I have been with my husband for going on 10 years now, [and] I have never seen this man without his facial hair. Not one freaking time,” Bunnie Xo, 45, teased at the start of the clip.

“My husband, in honor of his shoot that he did today, is going to shave off his beard completely, because now that he’s so skinny — look at that freaking jawline — we wanna see that jawline, right, ladies?”

Preparing for the makeover, Jelly Roll joked, “We’re trying to see if a face lift might be in order,” before he moved off-camera and began to trim his facial hair.

“I’m not looking. I’m not looking, okay? He tried to just show me, [but] I’m not looking until it’s all done,” Bunnie Xo then said, before she later told viewers watching, “He just kicked me out of the room.”

Bunnie Xo was eventually let back into the room to watch her husband’s facial hair trim, where she saw him sport various styles — including a “goatee” and a “cop ‘stache” — before he was fully clean-shaven.

Seeing the finished look, Bunnie Xo covered her mouth in shock, but still said, “The total naked face, it’s not terrible.”

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo later surprised loved ones with the “Need a Favor” singer’s new look. One person reacted, “Oh my God, I’m gonna cry,” as another exclaimed, “What the f—? I am scared.”

As fans eagerly pressed the star to show off his fresh face in the comments section, Bunnie Xo explained why her husband hasn’t made the big reveal just yet. “Hey guys, he will show y’all when he’s ready ❤️,” she wrote in reply.
