Multiple people stabbed at UAB football facility

Multiple people were injured in a stabbing Saturday morning at UAB’s Football Operations Center, according to the university and public safety radio communications.

“UAB Police and Public Safety is investigating an assault that took place this morning at the Football Operations Center. Injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect is in custody, and there is no threat to campus,” a statement from the university read.

According to police and fire radio communications, two football players suffered stab wounds.

Two people were transported to UAB Hospital, according to Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service.

BFRS is on the scene, and UAB Police are leading the investigation.

The Blazers are set to play the South Florida Bulls at 2 p.m. at Protective Stadium.
