They are now shooting themselves in both feet.

ASU’s Raleek Brown just rushed for a gain of 20 yards on ASU’s first play of the drive, but he dropped the ball as he hurdled a defender, and Colorado recovered it at the ASU 46-yard line.

Seriously.

ASU’s defense will be called upon to try to limit the damage down by its offense again.

The Sun Devils have two turnovers in this quarter and four in this game. Inexcusible.

We have reached the end of the third quarter and ASU is hanging on to a 21-17 lead over Colorado.

Jeff Sims completed a 19-yard pass to Jordyn Tyson to pick up a first down on the drive, but ASU couldn’t get much else going on the possession.

Tyson has two catches for 61 yards in his return from injury for Arizona State, seeing limited action in this game.

Colorado kicked a 28-yard field goal after Jeff Sims’ turnover to make this a 21-17 game, but that has to count as a win for ASU’s defense after the Buffaloes started the possession at the ASU 9-yard line.

ASU has been shooting itself in the foot in this game, allowing Colorado to hang around.

Score: Arizona State 21, Colorado 17 (5:25 left in third half)

Sims went to throw the ball before he was tackled on the first play of ASU’s possession, trying to make something out of nothing and lost the the ball, with it landing right in the hands of Colorado’s Shaun Myers at the ASU 9-yard line.

Ouch.

ASU’s defense stepped up in the first half in a similar situation. Can it do it again?

The ASU defense stepped up and forced the Buffaloes to punt on their second possession of the third quarter.

Colorado had a 1st & 10 at the Colorado 43, but had to punt three plays later.

That was obviously a much better possession for the ASU defense, which has given up 98 yards in the third quarter so far after allowing 108 yards in the first half.

The Sun Devils will start their possession at the ASU 23.

It didn’t take Arizona State long to respond vs Colorado.

Not a bad way to answer to Colorado’s opening drive touchdown in the second half.

ASU dominated the time of possession, 18:19-11:36.

ASU’s Jeff Sims was 9-for-21 for 119 yards, one touchdown and one pass intercepted, buy only ran the ball three times for six yards in a curious move, since Colorado has really struggled against mobile quarterbacks this season.

Raleek Brown had 14 carries for 108 yards in the first half for the Sun Devils.

ASU’s defense had a standout first half, only allowing 3.2 yards per play for the Buffaloes.

ASU tried a trick play late in the drive, but Jordyn Tyson’s pass to Chamon Metayer was overthrown.

Score: Arizona State 13, Colorado 7 (:05 left in second quarter)

The Jeff Sims turnover didn’t end up hurting Arizona State as ASU was able to force a three-and-out to get the ball back with 1:15 left in the second quarter.

ASU’s defense has overall played very well in the first half, allowing the Sun Devils to have the 10-7 lead.

ASU didn’t have a chance to do anything on its possession after stopping Colorado after Jeff Sims had a pass intercepted by John Slaughter on the first drive of the possession, giving Colorado the ball right back at the Colorado 34 with 1:35 left in the first half.

That hurt.

Sims has struggled with turning the ball over in his career and he overthrew Raleek Brown on that throw.

Colorado elected to go for it on 4th & 6 at the ASU 38, but Julian Lewis was sacked for a 10-yard loss, giving ASU the ball back at the ASU 48 with 1:42 left in the half.

ASU has its first touchdown of the game.

Colorado is dominating the running game in this game so far, with 64 yards on 11 carries. ASU has just 21 yards on 13 carries. Can it get something going running the ball now?

The Sun Devils surprised the Buffaloes with a fake punt on 4th & 7 at the Colorado 45, with punter Kanyon Floyd connecting on a 19-yard pass to Blazen Lono-Wong to extend ASU’s drive.

ASU wasn’t able to capitalize, however, with the Sun Devils turning the ball over on downs after failing to convert on a 4th & 1 at the Colorado 17 four plays later, with Jeff Sims overthrowing Jordyn Tyson.

ASU has interestingly hot had any QB-designed runs from Sims, including on 3rd & 1 and 4th & 1 plays at the end of that possession.

After 15 minutes, Colorado has 69 total yards in this game, while Arizona State has 56.

Score: Colorado 7, Arizona State 3 (:03 left in first quarter)

This game is ugly.

ASU just had another 3-and-out against Colorado, gaining four yards on the drive.

Interestingly, ASU football has not had Jeff Sims run the ball, something that has worked for the Sun Devils in his previous starts.

The fumble didn’t end up hurting the Sun Devils as ASU just stopped Julian Lewis for no gain on a rush on a 4th & 1 on the ASU 13, turning the ball over on downs back to Arizona State.

Colorado still doesn’t have a first down in this game as ASU’s defense has really stepped up.

We have our first turnover of the game, and it was a big one.

ASU’s Demarius Robinson fumbled the ball on a pass from Jeff Sims and Colorado recovered it at the ASU 22, giving the Buffaloes a huge opportunity and a short field after they haven’t been able to get anything going on offense in this game.

Yes, ASU has struggled to start this game on offense.

But Colorado is still looking for its first first down.

Score: Arizona State 3, Colorado 0 (9:23 left in first quarter)

We’ve traded 3-and-outs to open this game.

What’s at stake in tonight’s Big 12 football game? For Arizona State, a lot.

The Sun Devils need to beat the Buffaloes in order to stay in Big 12 football title game contention.

A win would put the Sun Devils at 6-2 in the Big 12 standings, keeping ASU alive in the Big 12 championship race, no matter what happens in other games.

Colorado is just 1-6 in Big 12 games and has lost three straight, so a win would give the Buffaloes a much-needed morale boost in the midst of a rough season.

While a win would keep ASU in the Big 12 title race for another week, the Sun Devils need some help to make the Big 12 conference championship game.

The biggest help they could get today would be a Cincinnati win over BYU.

BYU has one conference loss, so a Bearcats win over the Cougars would give BYU another loss in Big 12 play and give ASU a much better shot at making the Big 12 title game entering next week’s regular season finales in the conference.

The BYU-Cincinnati game is also at 6 p.m. MST tonight, meaning we could have a lot of scoreboard watching going on for ASU fans.

There were six Big 12 teams still in contention for the 2025 Big 12 championship game entering Saturday’s games, according to the conference.

Those teams? Texas Tech, BYU, Cincinnati, Utah, Houston and Arizona State.

But the list could be down to two after Big 12 games on Nov. 22.

BYU, which plays at Cincinnati, and Texas Tech, which is idle, can both clinch berths in the conference title game this week.

Texas Tech is currently 7-1 in conference play, while BYU is 6-1. Cincinnati, Utah, Houston and Arizona State are all 5-2.

Will the Sun Devils get a major boost on offense against Colorado today?

Tyson has 57 catches for 628 yards and eight touchdowns this year. He hasn’t played since ASU upset Texas Tech on Oct. 18.

Tyson was listed as a game-time decision in the final availability report for the game.

She wrote: “This is a game ASU should win handily, by double digits, something that has not been the norm. Colorado can’t stop the run, and ASU is suited to take advantage of that. And the Buffaloes have no rushing offense, which plays right into a strength of ASU, its rushing defense.”

The Arizona Republic’s Jeremy Cluff is predicting a 24-21 win for Arizona State over Colorado in the Big 12 Week 13 college football game today.

Other sites lean toward the Sun Devils beating the Buffaloes in their Arizona State vs Colorado college football Week 13 Big 12 game picks and predictions, but not everyone has ASU covering the point spread.
