Kelvin Fletcher suffers ‘worrying’ injury and opens up on ‘biggest concern’

Former Emmerdale and Strictly star Kelvin Fletcher joked he would need directions to the “nearest A&E” following a rugby tournament alongside “world class” stars
Kelvin Fletcher shared his injury after taking part in a charity rugby match was his next “biggest concern”.
Fletchers’ Family Farm returned on Sunday (November 16) morning with the ITV hit once again following the daily farming duties of former Emmerdale star Kelvin, his wife Liz and their four children.
Midway through the episode, the 41-year-old actor introduced ITV viewers to some of his volunteers who come from the David Lewis Centre, a charity supporting individuals with complex needs.
Fletcher, who is an ambassador for the cause, shared that he had signed up to take part in a local rugby tournament to raise funds, and roped in “world class” talents Gareth Ellis, Mark Flanagan and Danny McGuire.
Flanagan, who acted as the team’s captain on the day, originally benched Fletcher, commenting that he “doesn’t really know what he’s doing”.

Flanagan added: “He’s an actor, he’s a farmer, he’s a great dancer but when it comes to rugby, I’m not quite sure he knows what he’s doing so it’s a good chance for people who are a bit more experienced.
“Kelvin can get his notepad out and can make a few pointers and see how it goes.”
Fletcher did eventually get to take part but a clip showed him being tackled to the ground by another player with him laughing “I got pummelled good there, didn’t I?”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t really a laughing matter as he shared: “A little injury. I’m hoping, fingers crossed I’ve not, but it feels like I’ve torn my bicep.”
The timing couldn’t be worse though as throughout the episode, the star had previously been talking about showing off some of his Lincoln Red cows at the upcoming Royal Cheshire Show.
Liz asked her husband: “My main concern is can you still pull the cow on the Tuesday?”, to which the former Strictly winner replied: “That’s what I’m worried about. I have to get you in. Super sub.”
She commented in a separate interview: “I don’t know if he’s pulled a muscle, snapped a tendon, whatever’s happened, I want to make sure he can lead the cow.

“It’s the arm he would lead the cow on as well so we’re going to have to get him strapped up and make sure he’s alright.”
After announcing that the Farmyard Flyers had come fifth out of a possible sixth in the rugby tournament, Fletcher’s chirpy voiceover continued: “All in all, despite the bruises, it’s been a fantastic day.
“Now, if someone could kindly direct me to the nearest A&E, that would be great.”
He then confessed to camera: “My biggest concern now is getting fit for the Cheshire show for cow duties so we’ll have to see how it goes.”
So will Kelvin be able to take part in the Royal Cheshire Show or is his newfound injury going to prevent him from taking part?
Fletchers’ Family Farm continues every Sunday at 11.30am on ITV
