When Marjorie Taylor Greene, the flame-throwing conservative congresswoman, posted her resignation online on Friday, it upended Washington, blindsided Republicans, and shocked reporters.
All except for one White House correspondent.
Brian Glenn, her “significant other” of three years, was by her side in her Georgia living room while she recorded her 10-minute and 42-second address to the nation.
But even with the video completed, Ms Greene waited until the very last moment to decide whether she would set it live and in turn, throw a grenade into Donald Trump’s Maga movement.
“We made the video, and we sat back and we said, ‘you know, are you sure this is what you want to do?’ And we both agreed that this is the right decision,” said Glenn, White House correspondent for the Trump-aligned Real America’s Voice television station.
The resignation announcement capped an extraordinary seven days of turmoil.
