IND vs WI Live Score, 2nd Test Match Day 2: Shubman Gill slams 10th hundred as India declare at 518/5

IND vs WI Live Score, 2nd Test Match Day 2: India captain Shubman Gill continued his stellar run in Tests, remaining unbeaten on 129, his tenth Test century, as India declared their first innings at 518/5 in 134.2 overs on day two of the second and final Test against West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

Gill’s 129 not out came off 196 balls, featuring 16 fours and two sixes, and marked his highest individual score in home Tests, surpassing the 128 he scored against Australia in Ahmedabad in March 2023.

The declaration followed soon after Dhruv Jurel was bowled by West Indies skipper Roston Chase for 44, with India confident that their dominant batting display, led by Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brilliant 175, would put the visitors under immense pressure. Resuming from 318/2, India added 200 more runs, aided by B Sai Sudharsan (87) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (43), maintaining momentum throughout. Gill’s innings combined control and crisp timing, and he accelerated after reaching his fifty to finish unbeaten.

India’s next focus will be on exploiting the spin-friendly conditions with Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar, as the black soil pitch offers variable bounce and turn. A few deliveries, including the one that dismissed Jurel, kept low, while others turned sharply, providing encouragement for the hosts’ spinners.

Day two began with heartbreak for India as Jaiswal’s bid for a third Test double century ended in a run-out after a mix-up with Gill. Meanwhile, Reddy showcased some flourish, surviving a close lbw and hitting multiple boundaries and sixes off Jomel Warrican.

Gill’s composed batting drew applause from the Delhi crowd as he reached his fifth Test century as India captain in 177 balls, combining precision and aggression. With India declaring mid-second session, the West Indies were invited to face the remaining 43 overs, setting up an intriguing phase in the match.
