Riot cops escort Crystal Palace fans after ‘chairs thrown & windows smashed’

A ROWDY group of Crystal Palace fans ignited a violent brawl after chucking chairs and smashing windows – before riot cops ended the carnage.
Shocking footage showed a small number of thuggish supporters sparking chaos ahead of tonight’s European clash with RC Strasbourg.

In the unbelievable footage, a small bunch of Palace fans are seen hurling café chairs and throwing punches as the mayhem spirals.
Windows were reportedly caught in the crossfire – with glass seen sprayed across the cobblestone.
Other supporters look on in shock as the fight unfolds, recording the brawl on their phones.
The hooligans are eventually pulled away, leaving behind several upturned chairs and a scattered mess in the square.

The bust-up involved a select number of Crystal Palace supporters on Thursday evening – ruining the night for the rest of well-behaved fanbase.
Authorities deployed riot police to escort the small group of yobs to the stadium.
They were followed by a line of police vans and flanked by gendarmes carrying riot shields as they made the hour-long journey to the ground.
The fans were previously supposed to travel there on trams but were forced to walk ahead of a huge police presence as punishment.
A source said two rivalling groups of supporters kicked off at the Place du Marche Gayot as the chaos broke out.
Nearby bars shut down as soon as the fight kicked off.
As sirens echoed through the chilly streets, Palace supporters were seen carrying flags and scarves, making their way through Strasbourg.
Humiliating footage showed large swathes of fans stopping and starting to walk towards the game – only moving when instructed by authorities.
The remaining fans were scattered around the city ahead of tonight’s UEFA Conference League match against RC Strasbourg which started at 8pm.
Crystal Palace currently sit 11th in the league phase of the competition.
A win this evening could take the Eagles into the automatic qualifying spots for the knock-out phase.
Their opponents sit in 7th after three matches played.
On Wednesday night, Bayern Munich fans sparked mayhem inside the Emirates as violent clashes with police and stewards erupted before Arsenal’s Champions League showdown.
Shocking footage showed tempers boiling over in the away end long before kick-off as officers were forced to storm in and try to separate groups of agitated Bayern supporters.
