Singer Ray J arrested on charge of making criminal threats, LAPD says

Singer and actor Ray J was arrested on Thanksgiving on suspicion of making criminal threats, Los Angeles police said.

The artist, whose real name is Willie Ray Norwood Jr., was taken into custody after officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence on Thursday at 3:55 a.m., the agency said in a statement.

Norwood, 44, was released on $50,000 bond Thursday night, jail records show.

A representative for Norwood did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Video published Thursday by TMZ appeared to show Norwood livestreaming a confrontation with actor Princess Love about their children. They have two kids together.

At one point in the edited video, which NBC News has not independently verified, Norwood appears to pull a gun. Love, who is carrying a child, can be heard saying: “You just pointed a gun at me.” Norwood then denies that he pointed a gun at Love.

At another point in the video, Norwood appears to threaten to shoot someone.

A representative for Love did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

An LAPD spokesman told NBC News in a statement that there were no reported injuries stemming from the incident and that multiple firearms were recovered at the scene.
