Kristin Chenoweth is revealing her thoughts on the sudden closing of her latest Broadway production.

The Tony Award winner, 57, shared a candid video to Instagram on Wednesday, Nov. 26, reacting to the news of The Queen of Versailles — her current musical at the St. James Theatre in New York City — closing after less than three months on Broadway.

Two days after producers announced that its final performance will take place on Jan. 4, 2026, Versailles star Chenoweth thanked “every single one of you who has come to see us” and encouraged her Instagram followers to catch a show — or any show.

“I just want to say that I’m so proud of this new art that we’ve created, and it’s getting harder and harder to do so,” Chenoweth said.

She added, “I think about all of the shows in the past couple of seasons that have come and gone that, you know, not everybody got to see.”

After expressing her love for the “live art form,” Chenoweth reminded fans that she’ll be on stage through Jan. 4.

“We’d love to see you here. And also, go ahead and get a ticket to any Broadway show, ’cause Broadway is the best,” she added. “You have a live-performance art form and there’s nothing better than to look out and share an experience with an audience.”

In the post’s comment section, Chenoweth got some love from fans and friends, including Rita Wilson. “You are outstanding in this musical,” Wilson wrote. “So grafted up I got to see you and all your talented cast shine. Love you Kristin. 🩷💕🩷”

At the time of its conclusion, the show will have played 65 regular performances and 32 preview performances. After opening on Nov. 9, it has seen over $1 million in grosses in the past two weeks specifically, per figures from the Broadway League; a lack of advance sales is likely to blame for the closure.

The Queen of Versailles is an adaptation of Lauren Greenfield’s 2012 documentary of the same name featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (WickedPippenGodspell) and a book by Lindsey Ferrentino, with Michael Arden (Maybe Happy Ending and Parade) providing direction.

The story follows Florida socialite Jackie Siegel as she looks to build the biggest private home in the United States. Joining Chenoweth is Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham as her husband and late timeshare guru David Seigel. Melody Butiu (as Sofia), Stephen DeRosa (as John), Greg Hildreth (as Gary), Tatum Grace Hopkins (as Jonquil), Isabel Keating (as Debbie) and Nina White (as Victoria) are also in the cast, with Sherie Rene Scott serving as standby for Chenoweth.

Speaking with PEOPLE this month about reuniting with Schwartz, Chenoweth called him both a “big brother” and “an inspiration to me.”

“We skip 15 steps,” she said. “We already know each other so well, so I don’t have to say, ‘Is it okay?’ And he doesn’t have to go, ‘Are you sure you like?’ We just go, ‘I hate that.’ And he goes, ‘Don’t do that.’ And that is refreshing.”

Tickets to The Queen of Versailles are now on sale.
