Syracuse wraps a difficult 136th season following its most disheartening loss of the year so far. The Orange fell 70-7 a week ago to Notre Dame in a game nobody thought they’d win, but hoped it wouldn’t be as bad as it was.

Fran Brown took responsibility for the loss — Syracuse’s worst in over a century — saying, “I did not have our team prepared, ready to go in and compete or play at all.”

Syracuse fell behind 21-0 before Notre Dame even ran an offensive play on Saturday, giving up a pair of touchdowns on returned interceptions and another on a deflected punt that was returned for a score.

That means the Orange enter their season finale at home with an abysmal 3-8 record, and postseason dreams officially up in smoke. It will be the Orange and Eagles’ 59th clash, with Syracuse holding a 34-24 all-time lead in the series, but the series is split 6-6 since Syracuse joined the ACC.

If there’s any team Syracuse could end the season on a win against, it’s the Eagles, who are in even worse shape at just 1-10 this season. Boston College lost a 36-34 heartbreaker against Georgia Tech two weeks ago. Their sole win of the season was a Week 1 game against Fordham, 66-10.
