BYU football clinches spot in the Big 12 title game vs. Texas Tech

BYU is heading to Arlington in its third year in the league.

BYU was eliminated from the Big 12 title game at halftime of its final regular-season game a year ago.
This time around, the Cougars dispensed with the drama.
BYU clinched a spot in Arlington before taking a snap in its final conference matchup.
With Arizona State losing to Arizona on Friday night, BYU clinched its spot and will be heading to the Big 12 title next week.
The Cougars will face Texas Tech, which also clinched a spot with an ASU loss.
The game will be held Dec. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. MT. Ticket info is available on the Big 12 website.
The game will be a rematch of an early November contest, when BYU lost 29-7 to the No. 5 Red Raiders.
BYU will likely be playing for its College Football Playoff chances. At No. 11 and just outside the bracket, BYU very likely needs to win to get in.
This is BYU’s first appearance in the Big 12 title game in program history. The Cougars joined the league three years ago.
After an opening 5-7 campaign in the conference, head coach Kalani Sitake has won more than 10 games in back-to-back seasons. BYU’s 21 wins in the last two years are the most in the conference.
