National Guard shooting suspect charged with murder

The man suspected of shooting two National Guard members who were patrolling D.C. last week, killing one of them, was charged Tuesday with murder, assault and firearms offenses.

Prosecutors will file additional charges as the case advances, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro has said. Law enforcement officials said they continue to investigate the ambush-style attack blocks from the White House by a lone gunman who entered the country in 2021 after years of cooperating with U.S. forces in his native Afghanistan.
