Why Ryan Day had an ‘inkling’ Ohio State football’s headsets might malfunction during the Michigan game

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football lost its headset communication on its sideline during the second half of Saturday’s win at Michigan, but coach Ryan Day said the Buckeyes were prepared for the outage.
“The good news was earlier that week, I thought there may be an inkling that may happen, so we had a plan for it,” Day said.
Ohio State navigated the situation with a wristband plan as well as having quarterback Julian Sayin run to the sideline between plays.
Day said it took “a little while” for the headsets to get back up and running.
While the Buckeyes had a multiple-possession lead for most of the second half, their head coach was proud of how they handled the situation — even though his staff found it weird that he asked them to prepare for such odd circumstances.
“We were just ready for everything,” Day said. “You’ve just got to be ready for everything. When you go into any big game, you’re always trying to put contingency plans in place for anything that could possibly happen.”
“It’s funny how your mind works,” he added.
Then, he winked.
