After a successful rugby career, Alun Wyn Jones has decided to switch from the pitch to the kitchen. The former Welsh captain will be competing in Celebrity MasterChef, where he will take on a different kind of line-up. The BBC series is returning with its 20th series, which was recorded earlier this year.
15 celebrities from the worlds of music, drama, comedy, sport and showbiz will all be battling through several rounds of challenges to become the Celebrity MasterChef 2025 Champion.
As we enter the third and final heat, we’ll see Alun and four other stars attempt to win over judges, Grace Dent and John Torode. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter

When asked what made him want to do Celebrity MasterChef, Alun told the BBC: “I’ve done a little bit of cooking over the years.
“I’ve also seen a few guys that have played rugby come through the MasterChef doors, so I thought it’s an opportunity, why not try Celebrity MasterChef myself? Hopefully I learn a little bit along the way.”
He said that everything got “serious very quickly” when walking into the MasterChef kitchen, adding: “It’s funny walking into the kitchen for the first time.
“Growing up I was very aware of the show and how it looks, but obviously with the new MasterChef kitchen and the setup, the scale of everything, it’s something else altogether!
“Once you’re in the kitchen it gets serious very quickly, but it’s been good.”
The former British and Irish Lions player explained that he cooked around the house, however his wife did the “lion’s share.”
Alun explained: “My kids have seen me cook a bit more, but my wife does the lion’s share, because obviously, when the kids came along, I was still training, so she took care of their meals. But I do a little bit.
“There is an element of competition, actually, thinking about it, particularly when you’ve got feedback from three little ones who are more than welcome to give it.”
You can watch Celebrity Masterchef on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Tuesday, December 2, and Wednesday, December 3, from 8pm, and Thursday, December 4, from 9pm.
