Ward-Prowse has not been included in a single squad following the sacking of Graham Potter.

That is despite starting the Premier League clashes against Sunderland, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham and Crystal Palace in the early stages of the season.

And The Athletic report that Ward-Prowse is likely to seal his West Ham departure when the transfer window reopens.

Nuno was asked about the future of the East Londoners’ vice-captain before the defeat to Liverpool last weekend.

He said: “It’s just decisions and I’ve been honest with all the players.

“All the players are committed and working hard. It’s not an easy situation, but believe me, making the squad and deciding is tough.

“But we decide for the best. He’s been professional and very good (during this time).”

Ward-Prowse joined West Ham in a £30million deal from Southampton in August 2023.

He was a regular starter under then-boss David Moyes, before falling down the pecking order under successor Julen Lopetegui.

And Ward-Prowse was sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest at the start of last season, where he worked under Nuno.

But his spell at the City Ground was cut short in January, after failing to win over the ex-Wolves chief.

Ward-Prowse, 31, worked his way into the forefront of Potter’s plans following his return to the London Stadium.

But Nuno has decided that he has no future at West Ham and will be handed the chance to quit in January.
