Where LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier ranks in ESPN’s updated QBR

LSU football’s offense performed well, despite suffering a 31-24 loss at Vanderbilt on Saturday. The Tigers struck first, but they couldn’t pull through late in the game.
Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier had his best performance of the year. He completed 68% of his passes for 225 yards while playing a turnover-free game. His most popular target was Trey’Dez Green, who caught five passes for 74 yards.
Nussmeier also displayed mobility, escaping pressure on multiple occasions and finding his receivers. The best example came when Nussmeier scrambled outside the pocket and found Zavion Thomas, who eluded multiple tackles to run for a 62-yard touchdown.
However, the offense faltered late and went three-and-out twice in the fourth quarter with two chances to tie the game. As a result, Nussmeier ranks No. 33 nationally with a 74.0 QBR. The statistic, produced by ESPN, evaluates quarterbacks on all play types on an 0-100 scale adjusted for the strength of opposing defenses.
Nussmeier ranks No. 7 among SEC passers in QBR. Vanderbilt’s Diego Pavia is third with an 85.2 following his performance against the Tigers’ defense. He trails Georgia’s Gunner Stockton (91) and Arkansas’ Taylen Green (90.9).
