Bold & Beautiful’s John McCook Leaving as Eric Pushed Out of FC?

Thursday’s brutal Bold & Beautiful (recapped here) found Ridge altogether refusing to allow dad Eric to rejoin the design team at Forrester Creations. The company’s founder made it both loud and clear that he didn’t want to be put out to pasture. “I’m an artist,” he yelled, trying every way he could think of to sway Ridge.

But the dressmaker refused to budge. Eric’s “final” line nearly put him in the grave, Ridge noted. Now he was in charge and happy to accept all the pressure that came with the job. To add insult to injury, he let himself be called away before he and Eric had even finished their conversation.

Heartbroken, Eric looked around at everyone busily working. “Out with the old, in with the new,” he thought to himself. He didn’t want to leave. He hadn’t put down the sketching pencil a day in his life. But it appeared that he wasn’t going to get a say in the matter, and neither would better half Donna, who tried to reason with Brooke. “He’ll be a designer till his dying day.”

Back in the main office, it looked like maybe Eric was starting to pack things up. Has he given up? We can only hope not. As original cast member John McCook told Soaps.com in 2024, “I’ll be working right up until they drag me out of here. I celebrate, privately, every day that I have this job. It’s fun, it’s creative, I like the people that I work with. After my lovely wife and wonderful children, it’s the next thing that I’m grateful for — this job and the work that I’m fortunate enough to get to do.

“I joke that one day, they’re going to have to call my wife,” he added, “and say, ‘Come get him!’ because until I can no longer remember lines or have some kind of physical limitation, I have no reason to stop working!”
