Cardinals rule QB Kyler Murray out for rest of 2025 season

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is out for the rest of the 2025 season after further tests showed a lack of progress with his foot injury, head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Friday.
Gannon also ruled wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. out this week against the Los Angeles Rams. Running back Trey Benson, wide receiver Greg Dortch, cornerback Max Melton, defensive lineman Walter Nolen III and safety Rabbit Taylor-Demerson are all out this week, as well.
More from Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon on the injury front.
Marvin Harrison Jr. is among those that won’t go this week vs. the Rams as he continues to deal with the heel injury.

“He had some more tests done this week, went out of state, got another opinion on it,” Gannon said of Murray. “It’s not progressing where it’s gonna make sense that he can go.”
On his TikTok account Thursday, Murray posted ““Weird Year” with a caption saying, “Never again..”
Murray has not played since suffering a sprained foot in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans, at which point the Cardinals owned a 2-3 record. Veteran backup Jacoby Brissett took over as the starting quarterback.
The Cardinals did not place Murray on injured reserve at first, but he was added to IR a month later after Arizona’s Monday Night Football victory over the Dallas Cowboys. This was the first week in which Murray was eligible to come off IR, but instead the Cardinals will move on without him for the time being.
Whether or not Murray has played his final snaps with the Cardinals becomes the question, as speculation of a divorce has built with Arizona’s offensive struggles to start the year paired with his injury.
When asked about Murray’s future, Gannon said, “ I’m worried about the Rams right now.”
Murray played five games and completed 68.3% of his passes for 962 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions this season.
The Cardinals took Murray with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and he has been the starting quarterback since then.
“ I just feel bad for the quarterback,” Gannon said. “He got hurt and he wasn’t healthy enough to play, that’s first and foremost, that’s where I would leave it right now.”
