Former Auburn 4-star wide receiver commit flips to SEC rival

After Auburn football signed 17 recruits during the early signing day period, one hard commit was left to make his final decision in the Tigers 2026 recruiting class.
However, 4-star wide receiver Jase Mathews flipped his commitment from Auburn to Ole Miss Friday afternoon, according to multiple reports.
Mathews committed to the Tigers back in August, as the Tigers dropped from No. 36 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings to No. 49 following his flip.
The 6-foot-1, 182-pound wideout from Greene County High School is ranked as No. 27 receiver in the country and the No. 9 player in the state of Mississippi, according to 247sports.
As a junior, Mathews caught 68 passes for 1,138 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding one TD pass and one rushing TD. He missed the majority of his senior season with a torn ACL.
