20 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

RATBOYS – “WHAT’S RIGHT?”
Ratboy’s new album Singin’ to an Empty Chair is out in February, and they’ve given us another preview with “What’s Right?” “We approached this song like an experiment in the studio, stitching together three different drum performances, in three different-sounding environments, to guide us through some dramatic scene changes within the song,” Julia Steiner says. “We referenced the tight, yet expansive sonics of The War On Drugs and the desert landscapes of Thelma and Louise. The back half of the song came to me in a dream and remains one of the few times that I’ve had the presence of mind to record an idea immediately upon waking. Most of the lyrics and melody came out in that moment, and for that I’m still mystified and extremely grateful.”

THIS IS HELL – “BORN SUSPICIOUS”
Long Island melodic hardcore vets This Is Hell have released their first new song in 10 years, “Born Suspicious,” along with the news that a new EP is coming in 2026 via Trustkill. “Born Suspicious” sounds like classic TIH, and it rips. The band is also playing a hometown show on December 21 at AMH with Shai Hulud.

DAWN RICHARD – “A FLEX”
“The track is the kind of confidence that only I can give in my records,” Dawn Richard says of “A Flex,” which a press release describes as first taste of her next chapter. “Dipped in legacy, the kind of flex that comes from survival, culture, and craft. It signals a new album on the way, one that continues my mission of building worlds through sound, movement, and memory.”

MUTE SWAN – “COCTEAU SWAN” (FT. CITRUS CLOUDS)
The inspiration for this new track by dreampop group Mute Swan is right there in the title. “This song is an homage to one of our favorite bands, Cocteau Twins,” says the group’s Mike Barnett. “We were very lucky to have our friend Stacie Huttleston from Citrus Clouds sing the backing vocal part, which we recorded at their practice space in Phoenix.”

ROSIE CARNEY – “THE EVIDENCE”
Irish singer-songwriter Rosie Carney announced her fourth album, Doomsday… Don’t Leave Me Here, due out on February 27 via cool0nline. She’s also shared a new single, “The Evidence.” “It’s funny because I LOVE the production of this song, it’s so exciting to me,” she says. “But the song’s theme is very dystopian. It’s about that state of delirium you experience when you’re burning out but resting or being still is out of the question because it makes you feel too guilty, so you end up overexerting yourself mentally and physically. It becomes an extremely difficult cycle to break free from and everything ends up feeling like a complete fever dream. I think this is probably the boldest sounding song on the album. It set various tones for the rest of the production.”

LITRONIX – BUS STOP (BEAKᐳ REMIX)
LA musician Litronix handed his song “Bus Stop” (from this year’s One A Day Keeps The Doctor Away) over to former tourmates Beak> for a dark New Beat makeover. Rad.

PUMA BLUE – “CROAK DREAM”
“A Croak Dream is a prophetic dream where you see a vision of how you die,” says Puma Blue’s Jacob Allen of the title track to his upcoming album. “Half the songs on this record allude to how you might decide to live, act, if you somehow knew your awaiting fate. Being daring, romantic… saying what you really mean.

HUMAN POTENTIAL – “PRACTICE SONGS FOR THE UNLOVED”
Andrew Becker from Dischord band Medications has announced a new album as Human Potential. It’s titled Eel Sparkles and will be out March 6 on What Delicate Recordings. “This song came about fairly quickly and really seemed to write itself,” andrew says of the album’s first single. “One day I was just sitting around playing guitar through my old Silvertone guitar case amp that has really beautiful, built-in tremolo and I began messing around with this chord sequence that seemed to demand that it be anchored by that iconic Hal Blaine, ‘Be My Baby’ drumbeat…which then seemed to demand that the vocals be imbued with a goddamned lovely female voice (which ended up being Amira Nader). It then seemed to demand that the choruses soar with a confectionary mix of voices and seemed to demand that I call it “Practice Songs for the Unloved”…which evoked the feeling of a community of outcasts banding together to fuck around and play music together that most people wouldn’t like…which seems kind of like what my friends and I have been doing for years…which is, you know, fun.”

Everything becomes possible, nothing is inconceivable.”

DANIEL BLUMBERG & AMANDA SEYFRIED – “CLOTHED BY THE SUN”
Former Yuck frontman-turned-film-composer Daniel Blumberg has scored new film The Testament of Ann Lee, and has shared a song from it that features its star Amanda Seyfried on vocals. “It was originally written as a solo for her to sing, but it ended up being a duet, mostly because Mona liked the new atmosphere that leaves us with at the end of the film,” says Daniel. “It has a more contemporary feeling to the song which felt appropriate with the cards on the film explaining where the shakers are today. Amanda and I would sing a lot together during the recording sessions for the film so it’s nice to have a recording of us singing together finally and also an excuse to do some live concerts.”
