It was a reference to the infamous “Sandpapergate” scandal during the 2018 Test series in South Africa which saw Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft receive lengthy bans.
The trio attempted to alter the conditions of the ball in their favour by sporadically rubbing a short yellow adhesive tape against it, but were caught on broadcast.
This time, it simply involved a sassy Head ambushing a team-mate without any malice.
After the first tea break at the Gabba, Head pretended to walk past Neser before sneakily flicking his fingers towards the latter’s groin area.
