Zack Snyder offers fans ‘heartfelt’ thanks after Netflix Warner Bros. deal in new post
In a December 8 Instagram post, Snyder stated, “Today marks a little milestone on this wild Instagram journey—500k followers in just over two months! I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who’s joined along the way.”
He continued, “For me, these characters are a kind of modern mythology, and I put a ton of reverence and respect into bringing them to life.” He closed with, “Seeing that resonate with so many of you means the world. Here’s to many more stories together!”
The post, which featured an image of Henry Cavill’s Superman from Zack Snyder’s Justice League, came shortly after news of Netflix moving to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery, fueling the fan-led #RestoreTheSnyderVerse and #SellTheSnyderVerseToNetflix campaigns. The announcement has led to a renewed push among Snyder supporters for the continuation of his DC Universe films.
David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, addressed the future of DC content amid the acquisition. He told Bloomberg, “The work of James and Peter, their creative vision, it’s compelling and a great economic return. There’s no storytelling content that we have that provides a bigger palette than DC, and there’s nobody around right now who can tell these stories with the same imagination and excitement.”
Currently, Netflix has not announced plans to revive Snyder’s unfinished Justice League arc. The third Rebel Moon film is not moving forward, and Twilight of the Gods will not return for another season. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice remain available on streaming platforms. Zack Snyder’s Justice League is also accessible through streaming and home media release.
