Winter Weather Advisory now for Accomack & Northampton County for Monday afternoon

The National Weather Service has extended a Winter Weather Advisory for Accomack as well as Northampton County, warning that light but potentially travel-impacting snowfall is expected Monday afternoon and evening.
The advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Monday through midnight Monday night, with forecasters calling for 1 to 2 inches of snow, and the possibility of slightly higher totals in isolated areas.
Winds are expected to blow 15-20 mph out of the north, with gusts as high as 40.
Officials say residents should prepare for slippery road conditions, particularly during the Monday evening commute, as temperatures drop and snow begins to accumulate on untreated surfaces. Even light snowfall can create hazardous driving conditions on the Eastern Shore’s rural roadways.
Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution, especially on bridges and secondary roads.
