Utah State (6-6, 4-4 MW) is making its sixth appearance in the bowl, the most by any school. The Aggies have a 6-11 all-time bowl record and are playing in the postseason for the fourth time in five years. Washington State (6-6) is appearing in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl for the first time, with an 8-11 all-time bowl record.
Key players for Utah State include John Miller, a first-team All-Mountain West selection, and Bryson Barnes, a second-team All-MW honoree. Washington State is led by senior wide receiver Joshua Meredith and senior safety Tucker Large.
