BALTIMORE — Pittsburgh Steelers star receiver DK Metcalf was evaluated at a Baltimore hospital Sunday evening after experiencing stomach pain on the team plane.
According to a statement from Steelers spokesperson Burt Lauten, Metcalf reported stomach pain after boarding the team plane following Sunday’s win over the Ravens. The team’s medical staff removed Metcalf from the plane out of an abundance of caution. He was evaluated further at a nearby hospital. Metcalf stayed overnight at a Baltimore hotel. He’s scheduled to return to Pittsburgh on Monday.

Metcalf played a key role in Sunday’s 27-22 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. He caught seven passes for 148 yards, both season highs. At the end of the game, with receiver Ben Skowronek dealing with a number of injuries, Metcalf also ran down the field as the gunner on special teams. Following the game, which lifted the Steelers into first place in the AFC North, Metcalf was jovial in the locker room, joking with teammates. He participated in all of his typical post-game media obligations.
The Steelers’ next game is on “Monday Night Football” against the Miami Dolphins; Metcalf’s status for that game is currently unclear. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is scheduled to hold his regular weekly news conference Tuesday.
