Reddit down: Hundreds of users report outage globally – Check current status here

Reddit is currently facing an outage for hundreds of users globally, according to data from outage tracking platform Downdetector. As per the website, over 250 complaints have been registered about problems with Reddit, with the complaints peaking at around 3:55 PM.

Downdetector data shows that 48% of users complained about issues with the Reddit website, 42% about the Reddit app, and 10% about server connection problems.

However, the Reddit status page shows that there are no ongoing issues with either the website or the app.

Not the first outage recently:

Notably, there have been swathes of outages in the last few months that have affected multiple websites. Thankfully, this outage does not seem to be part of a broader pattern.

Recently, Cloudflare suffered an outage and since the platform acts as a backbone for a vast part of the internet, any issue with the service leads to a number of websites going down with it. The platform last suffered an outage on 5 December, which led to many popular platforms like Zerodha, Angel One, Groww, HSBC, and Deliveroo going offline, with a ‘500 Internal Server Error’ showing up on users’ screens.

Cloudflare had also faced another outage last month that led to platforms like X, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Anthropic being affected.

Meanwhile, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage led to a disruption lasting over 15 hours across more than 60 countries and affected platforms like Snapchat, Reddit, Slack, Canva, Fortnite, Lloyds Bank, and Amazon’s own retail site.

An issue with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 led to a massive eight-hour outage in October, affecting Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Azure, and Xbox Live, and disrupting the workflow of thousands of users.
