Philip Rivers to work out for Indianapolis Colts, reports say :: WRAL.com

The Indianapolis Colts are planning to work out Philip Rivers on Tuesday after starting quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles injury, according to multiple media reports.
Rivers, who turned 44 on Monday, played 17 seasons in the NFL. He last played professionally in 2020 for the Colts. That season, he went 11-5 with 4,169 passing yards and 24 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.
Jones suffered a torn Achilles injury during Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Rookie Riley Leonard, who played from 2021-2023 at Duke, replaced Jones on Sunday. Leonard could start in Week 15 against the host Seattle Seahawks.
However, Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Monday that Leonard is dealing with a right knee issue from the loss to the Jaguars. Steichen said that “hopefully” Leonard will be available to play Week 15.
Anthony Richardson is on injured reserve, and the Colts only have journeyman Brett Rypien on the practice squad.
In retirement, Rivers coached high school football in Alabama at St. Michael Catholic High School. Rivers also trained former UNC and current New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to help him prepare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Rivers played for the Chargers from 2004-2019. He played from 2000-2003 at NC State.
Rivers is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection and ranks sixth in NFL history with 63,440 passing yards.
