Spoiler alert! The following contains details from Season 49, Episode 12 of “Survivor.”
Finding an advantage on “Survivor” is nowhere near as tricky as playing it correctly.
The final six of Season 49 all took major blows in the penultimate episode on Wednesday, Dec. 10, except immunity challenge winner Savannah Louie and Rizo Velovic, who managed to make the final five without playing a very public immunity idol. With the competing alliances at a 3-3 standoff, two other advantages were played at the tribal council, but to no avail, thanks to some good ole betrayal.
Sophi Balerdi finally played her “knowledge is power” advantage, allowing her to steal another player’s power if they have one. However, her plan to steal Steven’s “block a vote” advantage failed as he had already secretly played it on Savannah ahead of tribal council.
After a dire internal debate, Sophi decided not to steal Rizo’s idol, making him the only player to make it into the finale with an advantage everyone has known about since the merge. She seemingly backtracked on her plan to turn against allies Rizo and Savannah after going on an emotional Mexican food reward with them at the “Survivor” Santuary and bonding over reading letters from family at home.
Here’s how the vote played out.
Who was voted out on ‘Survivor’?
Steven Ramm’s game was cut short right ahead of the Season 49 finale. Despite blocking Savannah’s vote, the Colorado rocket scientist was blindsided by his closest allies, Sage Ahrens-Nichols and Kristina Mills, in a unanimous 4-1 vote.
Sage and Kristina discussed the benefit of keeping Steven so he can potentially beat opponent Savannah in an immunity challenge, but ultimately decided he was too big a threat himself.
“It feels pretty amazing not to be an imposter. I came in thinking I didn’t deserve to be here; now I realize I do,” Steven said in his exit interview. “Even though it was a little failure to launch, it was a complete mission success in terms of self-discovery. That feeling of self-confidence is worth more than anything.”
