Multiple overturned vehicles on M74 as crashes shut motorway

Multiple vehicles have overturned on the M74 in South Lanarkshire forcing the road to close as Storm Bram causes difficult driving conditions.
Drivers are facing hours of delays after the crash near Abington.
The motorway has been shut southbound at Junction 11 and northbound at Junction 13 while emergency services respond to the incident as of 6pm on Tuesday.
A diversion route has been put in place, but authorities are urging motorists to take extra care and consider whether travel is essential as poor weather continues to impact visibility and road grip.
It is unknown if there are any casualties, but delays are expected as emergency services work to clear the carriageway and assess the scene.
Police Scotland said: “The A74(M) is currently closed at Junction 11 southbound and Junction 13 northbound near to Abington due to a number of overturned vehicles.
“A diversion is in place but motorists are advised to be aware and consider the conditions if traveling.”
