These things never run on time, do they?
Xabi Alonso’s news conference this morning was a rather awkward one with the Real Madrid boss doing well to keep his composure when fielding questions about his possible replacements, on whether he felt lonely in the job and if he was disappointed the players.
You wouldn’t expect the same to happen to Pep Guardiola this evening, as we await the Manchester City manager’s arrival into parts where he is not so popular.
This is now an important game for the Premier League side after suffering a shock home defeat by Bayer Leverkusen last time out in the competition.
Victory, though, could spell the end for Alonso.
