Celebrity Grower Jim Belushi Coming to NJ to Promote Deal with High Grass Farms

Celebrity grower Jim Belushi is coming to New Jersey dispensaries to promote his production deal with High Grass Farms.

He is stopping at a few South Jersey dispensaries while doing so. Jim Belushi is going to ReLeaf in Williamstown, High Rollers in Atlantic City, the Frosted Nug in Penns Grove, and Jersey Joint in Glassboro.

Notably, the pro-cannabis South Jersey Chamber of Commerce seems like it will be joining him at one of the stops.

High Grass Farms is a locally owned brand. Their license was renewed by the NJ Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC) earlier this year, in October. They leased 48,000 sq ft in Buena in South Jersey, so they have the space for it.

Jim Belushi Farms Coming to Jersey

Jim Belushi is planning to bring 3 new brands to NJ: Belushi’s Farm, The Blues Brothers, and Big Sur Holy Weed. Under the Bleushi’s Farm brand, he is releasing the cultivar strains  Pink Certz, Mule Fuel, and Apple Tart in New Jersey.

He is also bringing vapes, concentrates, and brick hash products in Jersey, according to a video he made.

Belushi has a Blues Brothers strain after the classic movie “The Blues Brothers,” which his late brother John Belushi co-starred in with Dan Akroyd.

John Belushi and Akroyd originated the band on Saturday Night Live and then did really well when they took it on the road. After John Belushi’s very tragic passing from an 8-ball mix of heroin and cocaine in the 1980s, Jim Belushi took on the role in live performances.

Jim has said he wishes his brother John Belushi had smoked weed instead, since you can’t overdose on weed.

He previously hosted a show called Growing Belushi, which depicted growing on his legal cannabis farm in Oregon. The show initially aired on the Discovery Channel and is available via streaming on HBO Max. It depicts him growing with some of the headaches along with insights learned, like playing music for plants.

Celebrity Brands in NJ Cannabis

Jim Belushi is not the first celebrity to bring his brand to New Jersey.

Raekwon of the Wu Tang Clan and the noted radio/podcast show host Charlamagne tha God opened Hashstoria dispensary in Newark. Unfortunately, it closed in less than 10 months.

In addition, Berner of Cookies has been hustling Jersey for a while. He came to promote the Vibes rolling paper brand deal with 711 earlier this year. Cookies has been operating a dispensary in Harrison in North Jersey, since August 2023. Plus, he made a deal with the Multi-State Operator (MSO) TerrAscend to get products in the market.

Also, the actor and rapper Ice-T is part part-owner in a dispensary in Jersey City called the Medicine Woman. They recent did a promo pop-up for a new product. Furthermore, former NBA star Al Harrington opened Village dispensary in Hoboken as well.

In addition, the wrestler Ric Flair made a deal with an MSO and made some appearances as well.

Heady NJ has seen that sometimes the cannabis community can have mixed feelings about celebrity brands. The closer the celebrity is to actually loving weed over the long run, the more likely they are to be embraced.
