Students at the University of Oklahoma won’t have to worry about their coursework getting in the way of the College Football Playoff.
The school announced Monday that classes at its Norman campus are canceled on Dec. 19, when the Sooners host Alabama in the first round.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that final exams scheduled for that Friday are being moved up to earlier in the week. In one case, students will have to take their exam on Monday, Dec. 15, which gives them a lot less time to study.
This is a byproduct of scheduling the first round of the CFP on campuses and, in the case of Oklahoma, having one matchup outside of the usual Saturday window. What was originally a normal winter Friday in Norman is anything but with OU taking the field.
Oklahoma already beat Alabama earlier in the year. Tate Sandell’s 24-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter was the difference in a 23-21 victory.
Should the Sooners make it two in a row, they’d get top-seeded Indiana in the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.
