Tangled Rumor Provides Big Casting Update for Disney’s Live-Action Remake

The upcoming live-action remake of Tangled has received a big casting update, according to a new rumor.

Disney is developing a live-action remake of Tangled, which was released in 2010. The original animated movie was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard and features a voice cast that includes Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider, and Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel.

Nexus Point News recently reported that Sadie Sink, Mckenna Grace, Emma Myers, and Isabel May were all being considered to play Rapunzel in the Tangled remake. Scarlett Johansson was previously in talks to play the role of Mother Gothel; however, she now has a busy schedule with The Exorcist, The Batman Part II, and a Jurassic World Rebirth sequel, and will not be starring in the movie.

What is the rumored casting update for the Tangled live-action remake?

According to a recent report from The DisInsider, the Tangled live-action remake is still looking for its Rapunzel as “Zombies 4 actress Freya Skye is amongst the actresses being considered for the role, and Disney does like her.” The report further reads, “That said, McKenna Grace is still the favorite amongst insiders.”

As for who could play Flynn Ryder in the movie, the outlet reports, “The studio is currently testing actresses for the role of Rapunzel, a shortlist for Flynn has yet to be put together but a name to keep an eye on would be Mason Thames (Black Phone, How to Train Your Dragon) as Disney has their eyes on him.”

This is just a rumor, and it should be treated as such, at this time, as Disney has not officially announced any casting details regarding the live-action Tangled remake at this time. It is known that Better Man and The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey is attached to direct.

The Tangled remake does not yet have a release date.
