After more than 135 years of races at Hastings Racecourse, the storied track in East Vancouver will go dark. Having been operational since 1889, the track’s owners announced last week that racing would end amid financial challenges. Dan Jukich, Hastings Racecourse’s track announcer and simulcast director for 35 years and former media relations director Greg Douglas spoke to CBC’s On The Coast about their experiences working at the track.
