Christmas Number 1 Contenders 2025: SpudBros & Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir – Brighter Than The Night
Recorded at Metropolis Studios and mixed at the iconic Abbey Road Studios, the track’s penned by Antony Llewellyn and performed by SpudBros’ very own redcap Huw Roberts alongside members of Our Dementia Choir.
And of course there’s some starch-based scran involved! Alongside there release, they’ve launched a limited edition, SpudX® Festive Spud, with £1 from every spud sold will be donated to Our Dementia Choir.
With the 2025 Christmas Number 1 race just around the corner, Jacob and Harley are preparing to swap their Preston spud tram for proper pop stardom.

The idea for the campaign was came from one of the pair’s viral videos: a touching moment between SpudBros and an elderly couple, which made national headlines and moved millions. Their partnership with Vicky McClure’s Our Dementia Choir is deeply personal to founders Jacob and Harley, whose own grandmother lives with dementia.

Chatting about the track, SpudBros say: “We still can’t believe how far this has come from two lads in a tram in Preston.

The Official Christmas Number 1 race 2024 kicks off Friday December 12 with sales and streams counting up until midnight (11.59pm) on Thursday, December 18.
Tune in to The Official Chart on BBC Radio 1 on Friday December 19 from 4pm to hear the Christmas Top 40 countdown and the exclusive reveal of the Official Christmas Number 1 2024.
The full Top 100 Official Christmas Singles Chart and Albums Chart will be published on OfficialCharts.com from 5.45pm.
