No. 5 UConn, Texas prepare to face off in Hartford ‘stripe out’

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – No. 5 UConn men’s basketball team takes the court against Texas in Hartford on Friday night.

The Longhorns are the last non-conference opponent for the Huskies.

Tip off at the PeoplesBank Arena is set for 8 p.m.

Fans can watch the game on Fox.

The university announced that tickets were sold out.

UConn said Friday night is a “stripe out.” That means fans in specific seats should check their sections to determine if they should wear blue or white.

The 9-1 Huskies are winners of five in a row, including a 77-73 victory over No. 18 Florida at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

UConn is 8-3 all time against Texas.

Friday’s game marks the end of a home-and-home series between the teams. UConn won last year’s meeting 76-65.

The Longhorns last played on Monday and won over Southern U.

Texas is 7-3 on the season. The team is led by Matas Vokietaitis, who has been averaging 15.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

UConn opens Big East Conference play on Tuesday when they host Butler in Hartford. The game starts at 8:30 p.m.
