We are less than two weeks away from Christmas, and restaurant chains are celebrating by offering customers deals and freebies in the days leading up to the holiday.
Fast food chains such as Burger King, McDonald’s, and Whataburger are offering deals every day for members of their loyalty programs, and Chipotle has buy-one-get-one (BOGO) offers on Saturdays all month long.
Some Chick-fil-A markets are also getting in on the fun by giving away free food when customers place a mobile order in the app; however, participation varies by restaurant or location. Customers are encouraged to check the Chick-fil-A app or contact their local restaurant for more information.
Here’s what to know about each restaurant chain’s deals and how you can take advantage.
Burger King offers 13 Days of Deals
Burger King said it is continuing to “spread the holiday cheer during the most Whopper-ful time of year” with its 13 Days of Deals and Holiday Hunt promotions.
From Dec. 12-24, fans can celebrate with the following deals:
- Dec. 12: Free Hershey’s Sundae Pie with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 13: Free soft serve cup or cone with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 14: Free any size soft drink with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 15: Free Frozen FCB with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 16: Free cheeseburger with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 17: Whopper Wednesday — Get a Whopper or Impossible Whopper for $3.99
- Dec. 18: Free Croissan’wich with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 19: Free 5-piece French Toast Sticks with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 20: Free 4-piece jalapeno cheddar bites with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 21: Free 4-piece Cini Minis with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 22: Free Whopper Jr. with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 23: Free OCS with $5+ purchase
- Dec. 24: Free two cookies with $5+ purchase
During the 13 Days of Deals, players can find four hidden items in the BK App to unlock daily deals, plus one lucky participant will win $30,000, according to the company.
Some McDonald’s locations in select markets offering ’12 Days of Delicious Deals’ promotion
Select McDonald’s restaurants in a limited number of markets are offering a “12 Days of Delicious Deals” promotion, which may include different daily offers available exclusively in the McDonald’s app.
Participating markets include parts of North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia, the company confirmed to USA TODAY.
The company encourages customers to check the McDonald’s app to see if their local restaurant is running this promotion.
Chipotle is giving away free food all December
On Saturday, Dec. 13, Chipotle customers can get a free entrée with the purchase of a burrito on “Burrito BOGO” day.
Customers must purchase a burrito in-restaurant after 4 p.m. local time on Saturday, Dec. 13, to receive the free entrée. Entrées, as defined by Chipotle Mexican Grill, include salads, bowls, tacos and burritos.
The series of holiday promotions dubbed “Unwrapped Extra” will conclude with “Extra Sweater Day” on Dec. 20, a day for customers to wear their most “extra” sweater for a chance to redeem the last BOGO offer of the season.
On Dec. 6, customers had the opportunity to participate in Tacos BOGO, during which they could buy a three-taco entrée and get a free entrée.
“Unwrap Extra is about giving back to our fans and creating moments to come together around the food they crave with the people they love,” Chris Brandt, president and chief brand officer at Chipotle, said in a statement. “With three consecutive Saturday deals and two surprise drops for every Rewards member, this is our biggest holiday promotion yet.”
Whataburger offers deals in ’12 Days of Whatacheer’ promotion
From Dec. 12-23, Whataburger is giving Whataburger Rewards members access to a fresh in-app offer every day.
Customers can sign in to their account and click to claim the day’s deal in the app. According to the chain, the lineup of treats includes a “range of cheerful surprises,” including complimentary add-ons, buy-one-get-one offers, and other limited-time rewards.
“12 Days of Whatacheer is Whataburger’s way of celebrating the season with a bit of holiday magic and special savings just for our Rewards members,” said Whataburger Chief Marketing Officer Scott Hudler in a news release.
Shake Shack offers free food with purchase for the entire month of December
Each week, customers can score free Shake Shack favorites with a $10 minimum purchase using the code “SHACKCHEER.”
- Dec. 1-7: Free Big Shack
- Dec. 8-14: Free SmokeShack
- Dec. 15-20: Free Chicken Shack
- Dec. 21-31: Free ShackBurger
Additionally, Shake Shack will be hiding a plush French fry named Cris Crinkle Cut inside restaurants in select U.S. cities throughout December. Lucky fans who spot him in real life will win a year of free crinkle cut fries and even “bring Cris home as an extra reward,” the company said in a news release.
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers offers 500 bonus points on Dec. 13
Freddy’s customers who have the app downloaded will get 500 bonus points with the purchase of an Original Double Steakburger on Saturday, Dec. 13, the company said in a news release. The offer is only valid on that day.
