Philip Rivers’ comeback efforts ends with Seahawks’ last-second field goal in Colts’ loss

The Seahawks mustered just two field goals in the first half, with the latter of them a 52-yarder by kicker Jason Myers as time expired in the second quarter.

Seattle gained just 80 yards in the first half; it was the fewest yards the Colts had allowed in the first half since Week 1 of this season against the Miami Dolphins.

A fourth-and-three conversion ultimately netted Seattle three more points to begin the second half, which cut the Colts’ lead to four points.

The two teams traded punts until Darnold hit a pair of explosive completions late in the third quarter, first to wide receiver Rasheed Shaheed for 27 yards and then, on a third-and-three, to wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a gain of 29. The latter of those completions moved the Seahawks into the red zone for the first time on Sunday as the third quarter came to a close.

But the Colts’ defense again steeled itself, forcing a Darnold incompletion on third-and-seven and leading to Myers hitting a 34-yard field goal, which dropped the Colts’ advantage to a single point with about 13 and a half minutes left.
