Finally Snow at Mt Hood this week! Prepare for high winds and more rain for the region

High winds and rain kicks off our Monday. We have a weak disorganized atmospheric river moving through the region. Areas prone to flooding will be at risk again this week as we continue to bring precipitation to our existing high-water areas. High winds are also expected Monday, with gusts up to 60 mph at times. This is concerning because it increases the possibility of branches, debris, or trees coming down onto powerlines. Over-saturated soil also increases the risk for trees to fall.

This first rain system comes from the south bringing warmer air and temperatures. On Wednesday the temperatures drop, and with that, the snow level drops to 3,000 ft. This will lead to a few inches of new snow at the ski resorts on Wednesday. The snow level rises back to 8,000 ft Thursday before returning to 3,000 ft on Friday, bringing a few more inches of much needed snow before the weekend.
