Shots fired near JFK Airport during apparent road rage incident, traffic delays due to investigation

QUEENS, New York (WABC) — Port Authority police were investigating an apparent road rage incident on the Van Wyck Expressway near JFK Airport on Tuesday morning.
There were shots fired at a vehicle near Exit 8.
An off-duty customs officer was being interviewed in connection with the shots fired.
One vehicle was struck by gunfire. No one was injured.
The southbound Van Wyck closure diverted traffic onto local roads around Kennedy Airport, but reopened one lane around 7 a.m.
The JFK Expressway is open, and drivers are able to use that to access the terminals.
Passengers were encouraged to use the Air Train to JFK.
Travelers were also urged to check on their flight status.
