An investigation is underway following a police shooting in Calgary.
Calgary police Chief Katie McLellan said the incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Dalhousie LRT station in the city’s northwest.
“Our officers were called for assistance by bylaw officers, who reported seeing a man acting erratically and carrying a knife,” said McLellan.
“During that response, officers were involved in a shooting that resulted in serious injury to one man. Thankfully, no officers or bystanders were hurt.”
The man was rushed to hospital, but so far there’s no update on his condition.
McLellan said there is no further risk to the public, thanks to the quick action of officers who “acted swiftly to protect the public in this very dangerous situation.”

So there’s several people who actually witnessed the incident happen,” said Brar. “We’ve got witnesses we are speaking to, but if there’s anybody else who has information, I ask them to reach out to ASIRT, and if they have any video or other evidence, to pass it on to ASIRT.”
