MONTREAL – The Canadiens announced on Tuesday that goaltender Samuel Montembeault has been assigned to the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket on a conditioning assignment.
The 29-year-old netminder has not played since December 9, when he entered in relief for Jakub Dobes against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and has not started for Montreal since December 2 against the Ottawa Senators. He carries five wins over 15 games, a .857 save percentage and a 3.65 goals-against average in 2025-26.
