Trevor J. Roston, 33, is facing felony charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a teenager.
Officials said the crime happened on Nov. 29 at an Elgin hotel.
Roston is accused of following the minor into a single-use poolside bathroom, locking the door and sexually assaulting the minor.
The victim is a minor child with an IQ of 55, a physical disability and a stutter.
The defendant is a trained pediatrician who is better able than most to assess age and delays.

He was charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of a child, the state’s attorney said.
Investigators said they do not believe that the victim was a patient of Roston or that he knew the victim before the alleged assault.
The Kane County state’s attorney said Roston was employed by Advocate Sherman Hospital at the time of the crime. He has since been fired.
Officials said that although he is certified in pediatrics, he only treated adults at Advocate Sherman Hospital.
The doctor lives on the Northwest Side of Chicago, but worked at the Elgin hospital for several years after graduating medical school in 2019.
Because Roston’s alleged crimes happened in a hotel, which is a public place, the Kane County judge ruled he is a threat to the public.
On Monday, a court ordered Roston to remain in jail while his case is pending. He is due in court on Dec. 29.
Hospital officials issued a statement saying, “We are deeply disturbed by the charges filed against a former employee. Out of respect for the ongoing investigation, all inquiries should be directed to law enforcement. “
