Josh Hart wore a Marty Supreme tee shirt before the NBA Cup final

Josh Hart did not need to explain the reference to his t-shirt to New York Knicks fans ahead of Tuesday night’s NBA Cup final against the San Antonio Spurs. The game was an opportunity for the Knicks to win any form of a league-wide title for the first time since 1973.

The Knicks guard arrived at the NBA Cup final wearing a Knicks-themed ‘Marty Supreme’ shirt. The tee was clear nod to actor Timothée Chalamet, who plays Marty Mauser in the upcoming December film that he also co-produced.

“Shout out, Timmy. Shout out, ‘Marty Supreme,'” Hart said as he walked through the tunnel. The film set to release on December 25th is loosely based on the life of table tennis champion Marty Reisman, featuring an all-star cast that includes Tyler, the Creator, Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher, and more.

Since wearing the shirt, several print-on-demand companies have rapidly duplicated its design, swapping out the basketball in the iconic blue and orange Knicks logo for a three-star ping-pong ball.

Hart posted images of his shirt on his Instagram story before the game and tagged the actor, prompting Knicks fans to try and find the shirt themselves.

Chalamet’s Knicks fandom was visible after appearing during New York’s 2025 playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games, who then lost the NBA title to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 29-year-old Hollywood star was a constant courtside presence at Madison Square Garden and followed the team, even following them on the road during trips against the Boston Celtics and Pacers.

He famously skipped the Met Gala to watch a playoff game because he “had to be locked in,” and later called the stretch “the most fun period of my life.”

Timothée Chalamet is a die-hard Knicks fan

The ‘Marty Supreme’ star celebrated with the team after its Eastern Conference Semifinals playoff win over Boston, partying alongside Hart, Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby, and Mikal Bridges.

Earlier this month, he appeared with Hart and Brunson in a Lucid Motors ad campaign where he revealed Michael Jordan as his favorite athlete, and Denzel Washington as his favorite actor.

Hart’s’ tunnel fit came as the Knicks chased the NBA Cup title after tearing through the tournament as the No. 3 seed. They beat the Toronto Raptors in the quarterfinals and the Orlando Magic in the semifinals, entering the championship with a five-game winning streak.

New York sits fourth in the NBA at 18-7, Brunson leading the offense, Towns controlling the glass, and Hart continuing to do a little bit of everything.
