Damaging winds may hit nearly half of the Lower 48 over the next 36 hours amid a disruptive, wide-reaching winter storm that has already knocked power from more than 500,000 customers. The instigating system, located in the Northwest region and moving east along the border with Canada, already yanked an atmospheric river into the Pacific Northwest.
