Jason Statham’s $100 Million ‘Heat’ Replacement Scores New Streaming Home This Christmas

One of Jason Statham’s most underrated movies of the last few years will have a chance to shine on a new streamer this Christmas. Four years ago, Statham starred alongside Holt McCallany (Waterfront) in Wrath of Man, the heist thriller following a stoic operative who is hired by a cash truck company to guard their vehicles from being robbed. Wrath of Man is currently streaming on Prime Video in America, but Netflix has announced that the film will join its streaming library on December 25 — what a gift for Statham fans. Prime Video has yet to announce if the film will leave streaming on the day it joins Netflix.
Wrath of Man was met with a lukewarm reception from critics, who rated it 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is just short of Certified Fresh, and this 68% also gave it a comfortable threshold to avoid being Rotten. It was a massive hit among the fans, though, who scored it a Verified Hot 90% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. Wrath of Man also found success at the box office during a time when many movies were struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The film earned just over $100 million against a $40 million reported budget.
Wrath of Man marked a massive reunion between Jason Statham and director Guy Ritchie, who had not worked together for 16 years after their last collaboration on Revolver. They first teamed up in 1998 for Jason Statham’s feature acting role, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and they worked together two years later on the Brad Pitt-led Snatch. The duo worked together for two years after Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, and they’ve got another exciting project in the works coming soon.
When Does Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham’s Next Movie Come Out?
Around Halloween, it was reported that Statham and Ritchie are reuniting once again for a movie that will serve as a reboot to the Daniel Craig classic crime thriller, Layer Cake. Production on the film is scheduled to begin next month, but it likely won’t be released until the end of 2026 or early 2027. Statham will also be busy next month promoting his next action thriller, Shelter, which is due in theaters on January 30. He’ll also star in Mutiny in August and The Beekeeper 2 at the end of the year.
Be sure to check out Wrath of Man on Netflix starting December 25 and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates.
