Meg Ryan Posts Tribute To ‘When Harry Met Sally…’ Director Rob Reiner

Meg Ryan has posted a poignant tribute to her When Harry Met Sally… director, the late Rob Reiner, and his wife Michele Reiner.
“Oh how we will miss this man…,” wrote Ryan on Instagram next to a black-and-white photo of the actress dancing with the director back in their Sally days. “Thank you, Rob and Michelle, for the way you believe in true love, in fairy tales, and in laughter. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.”
Ryan, who played Sally Albright to Billy Crystal’s Harry Burns in Reiner’s classic 1989 romantic comedy, continued: “I have to believe that their story will not end with this impossible tragedy, that some good may come, some awareness raised… I don’t know, but my guess is that they would want that to be hopeful and humane, to be something that brings us all to a greater understanding of one another and to some peace.”
The bodies of Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were found at their Brentwood home Sunday with multiple stab wounds. Their 32-year-old son, Nick, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths. He faces life in prison or potentially the death penalty if convicted.

Ryan is the latest friend and colleague of the Reiners to express her grief over the tragic deaths, a roster that includes Rob’s All In The Family co-star Sally Struthers. A group letter was released yesterday by Billy and Janice Crystal, Albert and Kimberly Brooks, Martin Short, Alan and Robin Zweibel, Larry David and Ashley Underwood, Marc Shaiman and Lou Mirabal, Barry and Diana Levinson and Ambassador James Costos and Michael Smith.
Earlier today, the Reiners’ daughter Romy and son Jake released a statement saying, “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience.”
